This one's for Mrs. Beazly

And possibly Mr. Blurn, since they don't fancy Christian rock. I like some of it, but you still have to be able to laugh at yourself. If you don't, someone else will. (And indeed, there IS a lot of cheesy and just plain terrible worship music out there...)

  1. No kidding, the tune at the end of this video reminds me of Adam Sandler's song in the Wedding Singer where he repeats over & over "Somebody kill me Pleaaaaaase!"

  2. "Whatever you do, something should always be in flames"

    Good advice...

  3. I certainly follow that motto when I'm cooking. And I'm not talking fancy flambe recipes.

  4. That was hysterical and actually brought to mind the youth conferences (that I loved, by the by) I attended in high school :)

  5. It's funny because it's true. I have never heard a contemporary Christian pop song that did not sound like this.

  6. One comment on YouTube went thus: "Awkward moment when you find yourself liking the song at the end." I laughed, because that's exactly how I felt! I do like some Christian rock-- I think the Newsboys, for example, are talented and write pretty clever lyrics--indeed, I think they have achieved some mainstream success, if I'm not mistaken, which says something.

But you have to be in a mood for it, and if that's all you ever listen to, well, let's just say you'd be impoverished, musically speaking. But if it really helps some people come closer to God, more power to them all. I just don't necessarily want to hear it at Mass (yes, Carey Haugenhaashcutte, I'm also talking to YOU!!)
