It will be interesting to see the results of the November elections down south. But the big O's reaction is likely to be as predicatable as the outcome:

Indeed. No matter what you say to a politician, it won't register as disapproval. We can't possibly be rational adults who disagree with them - we must be scared, or not thinking straight, or we need a nap, or our juice box is empty, etc. etc. etc.
ReplyDeleteThis also puts me in mind of the way Mr. Collins reacts to Lizzie's rejection of his marriage proposal in "Pride and Prejudice". When the voter says "No!" the pols assume you are just trying to build the suspense, and they should play along with your flirtation by laying on the deficit a few billion dollars thicker!
