ReplyDeleteExplanation (as far as my pea-sized brain can cipher): Geeks and nerds (whether of the Star Trek, Harry Potter, Star Wars or Lord of the Rings variety) are very protective of their chosen cosmology and they are therefore bothered, befuddled, or be-angered by inconsistencies and/or mockery. Hence Shea's comment about cognitive dissonance.

Yes, it's funny because it conflates Star Trek, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings and Star Wars. Kind of like saying, "Better get back to the Bat Cave, Superman!" or "I sure was glad when Elizabeth Bennet finally got to marry David Copperfield after he went blind in that fire!"
