The joy of children

This is a short conversation I had with my teens the other day.

Mom (plaintively): When I wake up in the morning, I look like Rex Murphy. [They didn't know who he was, so I showed them his picture online.]

Miss P #6 (15 years old): You don't look like that.
Miss P #5 (18): You don't have blue eyes.

They sure know how to make a mom feel loved.

Don't get me wrong; Rex Murphy is great: brilliant and eloquent. But I don't want to look like him. And yet, some mornings, that's the facial expression I see, but topped with Billy Ray Cyrus's hair. On a bad hair day.

Before my last cut and colour, my hair literally looked exactly like this...

  2. I'm contemplating a new dye job today. And a haircut. Both needed badly.
