The S word

Thou art jist as stoopid. Do not be thus.

Post-modern society has become so politically correct and easily offended that I actually hesitated the other day to use the word "stupid" in my blog post. The S-word is so taboo these days that you can get busted in Kindergarten for using it. (But then again, you can also get busted in Kindergarten for drawing a gun, or declaring you have a best friend, or even for using the wrong gender pronoun, so what does that prove...)

But you know what's funny? Well, lots of things, actually, but I came across the S-word the other day while I was PRAYING. Yes, really. The 2nd Reading, in the Office of Readings, was from a letter to the Ephesians by Saint Ignatius of Antioch, bishop and martyr.

The entire epistle is worth reading, of course, but this section caught my particular attention:
But why is it that we are not all wise when we have received the knowledge of God, which is Jesus Christ? Why do we perish in our stupidity, not knowing the gift the Lord has truly sent us?
Why indeed? Let's try to figure that out.

  3. I think much of the stupidity comes from feminism...the kind of feminism which hates men, but says it's all about tolerance and inclusion. Much of the political correctness is aimed at maligning men (example: little boys like to draw guns and carry toy guns). Maybe it all comes down to envy...of the other sex?

  4. Agreed, Maureen. I have never understood feminism. So many internal contradictions. I can't believe it hasn't imploded by now.
