Ha ha. I used to feel that way. Now that I'm getting old, I actually PREFER raisin cookies sometimes. But it's best to leave the raisins hard, shriveled and chewy before you add them to the batter. Some recipes ask you to boil the raisins first, to plump them up and make them squishy... (shudder! gag!)
Thank you Mrs. Beazly. That IS EXACTLY how I feel. However, if one MUST eat a raisin in a cookie, it had far better be dried and shrivelled and chewy rather than plump and juicy. You may as well put earthworms in cookies if you are going to put a plump raisins in them. I'm sure the texture would be the same. Shudder! Gag! Indeed.

ReplyDeleteEarthworms, yes. You are a master of metaphor, Mrs. J.
DeleteEEP. Guess I won't soak the raisins I put in bran muffins the next time you two come for Sisters' Week.
ReplyDeleteStrangely, enough, I don't mind plump raisins in bran muffins. Because you sort of expect them. But cookies? Just no.
DeleteCookies with raisins and chocolate chips are like Glossettes in cookie form. Mmmmmm!
ReplyDeleteWasting chocolate on a raisin is just wrong.
